Cloudbreak is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji. This spot is found about three miles south of Namotu Island in the Mamanuca Islands. Cloudbreak is a left-hand reef break with a coral reef bottom. The wave is known for its power, length, and consistency, holding big swells and offering rides over 500 meters. The break is divided into three main sections: The Point, The Middle, and Shish Kebabs. The Point has larger, rippable waves, The Middle is known for tube rides, and Shish Kebabs is the inside section with hollow barrels and a shallow, uneven reef. The spot is very consistent and attracts professional surfers due to its challenging conditions. The best time to surf Cloudbreak is during the Fijian winter from April to October, when long-period south to southwest swells arrive. The optimal wind is from the east to southeast at 5 to 15 knots, and the spot works on all tides but is usually best from low to mid-tide. Access is only by boat, with surf boats and guides available from nearby resorts like Namotu and Tavarua. If you stay elsewhere, you need to arrange a charter. The lineup can get crowded, especially during peak season, so respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when the spot is busy. Cloudbreak is empty at times but can become competitive, so wait your turn and keep a friendly attitude. Rips and undertow are present, and the wave is considered one of the most demanding, especially on big days.
