About this Spot

King Kong Left is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji. This spot is found near Nagigia Island in the Kadavu Passage and is only accessible by boat from the Nagigia Island Resort. The surf spot provides left waves. The wave breaks over a live coral reef and is best surfed on a mid to high tide, with more water under your feet making it safer than some other reef breaks in Fiji. The average wave size is 3 to 5 feet offshore, but it can hold up to 15 feet or more when the swell is bigger. The take-off is deep, and the wave can wall up longer if you go for the smaller sets. Sets can break wider, so always keep an eye on the horizon. The best conditions are with a southeast swell and offshore winds from the northeast. The spot is usually uncrowded, as only resort guests can surf here, and there are usually no more than 6 to 8 surfers in the water at a time. The water is warm and clear, and the scenery includes the mountain Nabukelevuira, which also helps moderate the wind at the break. Access is by boat ride from the resort, and paddling out takes more than 20 minutes. There is a surf guide on hand at the resort, and reef boots are recommended. The spot is suitable for all levels, but it can get challenging when the swell is up and the tide drops. Always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always follow surf etiquette. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check reliable surf resources before heading out. Nearby surf spots include Uatotoka, Frigates Passage, Serua Rights, and Pipes.
