Overview
About this Spot
Swimming Pools is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji. The spot is found near Namotu Island in the Mamanuca Islands and is only accessible by boat, usually from Namotu, Tavarua, or Sea Shell Resort. The break is named Swimming Pools because of the clear, blue water and the visibility at the spot. The surf spot provides right waves. The bottom is made of coral reef, so be careful of shallow areas and rocks. The wave length ranges from 150 to 300 meters. The best conditions for surfing here are during low and medium tides, with a southwest swell, and the best time to surf is from April to September. The wave is generally mellow and suitable for all levels, but when the swell gets bigger, the wave becomes faster and thicker, so check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The spot sometimes breaks, so always check the surf forecast and report before heading out. Swimming Pools is less intense than nearby breaks like Cloudbreak or Wilkes, but it can still get challenging when the sets are wide and powerful. The spot is usually empty, but when it gets crowded, respect the locals and always follow surf etiquette. The break is managed by the Namotu crew, and access is mainly for guests of Namotu. The paddle to the spot is over 20 minutes, so most surfers use a boat. Nearby surf spots include Canoes, Restaurants, Namotu Lefts, Wilkes Passage, and Cloudbreak. Always check the map and webcam for current conditions before you go. Remember to respect the local rules and the environment, and enjoy the unique experience of surfing in Fiji’s clear waters.
