Overview
About this Spot
Sigatoka Rivermouth is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji, at the mouth of the Sigatoka River on Viti Levu island. The spot is known for its sandy bottom and works on all tides, with waves that can be placid on smaller swells and more challenging on larger swells, especially when the wave breaks at the reef and peels left across the rivermouth for over 300 meters. The spot provides both left and right waves. The surf here is very consistent, and the length of the ride ranges from 50 to 150 meters. The area is part of the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, which is the only proper sand dunes on Viti Levu and holds historical and cultural significance. Access to the spot involves following dirt tracks to Club Masa, a local surf resort, where parking is available for a small fee paid to local villagers. The last part of the route requires walking about a kilometer to Club Masa and another 500 meters to the beach. Club Masa is basic and does not have power, but you can stay there for a fee that usually includes food. After your surf session, you can relax with the local crew at Club Masa. The spot is open to all westerly swells from deep water close offshore. Be aware of rips, undertow, and the presence of sharks. The beach break is best in the early morning before the wind picks up. The spot is generally empty, but always respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and check the surf etiquette. Make sure to check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. No littering or rubbish should be left on the beach.
