Malhão is a surf spot located in Alentejo, Portugal, near the town of Vila Nova de Milfontes. This beach break is part of the Vicentine Coast and is known for its consistent waves and sandy bottom with some rocks. The beach offers various peaks with left and right waves, and it is suitable for surfers of all levels, including beginners. The waves break at all tides. The beach is approximately 7 kilometers from Vila Nova de Milfontes and can be accessed by following the road to Sines, with a turnoff sign indicating the beach. Malhão is recognized for its excellent water quality, having been awarded the “Qualidade de Ouro” flag by Quercus, the Portuguese National Association for Nature Conservation. The surf spot is moderately crowded, and surfers can enjoy waves ranging from 50 to 150 meters in length. Various types of surfboards are suitable for this spot, including beginner boards, softboards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. During the summer there acn be a lot of onshore wind, the best time to surf is after October. Nearby surf spots include Aivados, Canal das Barcas, Praia do Farol, Porto Covo, and Vila Nova de Milfontes.
