About this Spot

Kualoa Point is a surf spot located in Oahu East Side, Hawaii. The spot provides both left and right waves. It’s situated near Kualoa Ranch, offering a mix of coral reef and sand bottom. The surf break is suitable for all experience levels and typically has few surfers, making it less crowded compared to other spots. Waves at Kualoa Point have a regular frequency and can range from 50 to 150 meters in length. The spot works best during low and medium tides. When surfing here, always check the current surf forecast and report to ensure conditions match your skill level. The area consists of multiple breaks, including an inside break near the beach and an outside break further out. The inside break is divided into two sections: one closer to the shore popular with shortboarders and body surfers, and another in front of a nearby bunker favored by longboarders. Waves in the inside break can reach up to 5 feet on good days during winter. The outside break can offer larger waves, sometimes reaching 5-7+ feet, but it’s often inconsistent and challenging to access. Be aware of potential hazards such as rips, undertow, rocks, and occasionally sharks. It’s advisable to bring vinegar and meat tenderizer in case of jellyfish stings. When parking, you can use either side of the street by the gate to the valley. Always respect the locals and follow proper surf etiquette. Nearby surf spots include Ripps Reef, Pyramid Rock, Pounders, Dune Circle, and Shorebreaks. While Kualoa Point may not be world-class, it offers a fun and often uncrowded surfing experience. Remember to check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. For the most up-to-date information, consult a surf map or look for any available webcams of the area.
