About this Spot

Ceningan Point is a surf spot located in Bali, Indonesia. The surf spot provides left waves. It’s situated on Nusa Ceningan Island, known for its consistent and powerful left-hand point break. The wave breaks over a coral reef and sand bottom, offering rides of 150 to 300 meters. Ceningan Point works on all tides and is suitable for intermediate surfers. The spot is very consistent and usually has few surfers. Access is typically achieved by crossing the yellow bridge from Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Ceningan, followed by a short journey to Mahana Point. The wave is often larger than other nearby breaks due to its exposure to deep water swells. Optimal surfing conditions are generally found during low to mid tides. Surfers should be aware of certain hazards at Ceningan Point. The reef bottom is sharp, and strong currents can be present. There have been reports of sharks in the area, so caution is advised. It’s important to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. When surfing here, respect the locals and be aware of surf etiquette, especially if the spot gets crowded. The spot is known for its deep water break, throwing out a lot of power. A strong current runs through the area, pulling surfers towards the point. This can test a surfer’s breath-holding ability and the strength of their leg rope. If your leg rope breaks, it’s likely you’ll lose your board. Jumping in off the cliff is considered the easiest way to access the surf. Near spots include Mushroom Bay Beach, Playgrounds, Lacerations, Shipwrecks, and Masceti. Bali, where Ceningan Point is located, is part of Indonesia and is known for its rich culture, arts, and as a popular tourist destination. The island is part of the Coral Triangle, an area with high marine biodiversity. Bali has a long history, with evidence of Austronesian settlement dating back to around 2000 BC. The island has been influenced by various cultures over the centuries, including Indian, Chinese, and particularly Hindu culture.
