To reach Playgrounds, surfers typically take a boat from Sanur, with the journey lasting about 50 minutes. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. It breaks over a coral reef, so it’s important to be cautious, especially during lower tides when the reef is more exposed. Playgrounds works best at medium and high tides. The spot is suitable for all levels of surfers, but it’s crucial to check your skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match your abilities. The wave quality is considered a regional classic, with a length ranging from 50 to 150 meters. Playgrounds can handle regular swells and typically experiences moderate crowds. Nearby spots include Lacerations, Mushroom Bay Beach, Shipwrecks, Ceningan Point, and Masceti. For optimal surfing conditions, look for swells from the south or southwest, with a minimum swell height of 4 feet. The best wind directions are from the east or southeast. The spot is located about 100 meters from the pontoons of Bounty Cruises and Bali Hai Cruises. Surfers staying in accommodations on the cliff overlooking the break can paddle out to the spot in about 5 minutes. It’s advisable to follow the rope leading out to gauge the channel and paddle around the right side. The lineup at Playgrounds can be unique, with large catamarans and pontoons anchored nearby. Tourists often engage in snorkeling activities between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., but they typically remain clear of the surfing area.
