About this Spot

Shipwrecks is a surf spot located in Bali, Indonesia. The spot provides right waves. It’s situated off the northwestern coast of Nusa Lembongan, an island southeast of Bali. This surf break is about 500 meters offshore and can be reached by boat or by paddling from the beach. Shipwrecks is a coral reef break that works best during high tide. It’s considered a regional classic and is suitable for intermediate surfers. The wave length is less than 50 meters. The spot typically has few surfers, but it’s always important to respect the locals and follow surf etiquette. Nearby surf spots include Lacerations, Playgrounds, Mushroom Bay Beach, Ceningan Point, and Masceti. Shipwrecks can appear flat during low tide but grows with incoming tide. It offers a short, intense ride that can be fairly safe, although it can be shallow on the inside. The spot is known for its easy tube. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The wave starts working at around 3 feet and can hold up to 8 feet or more. The best surfing conditions are usually found during the dry season, from May to September. Mid to high tide is preferred for surfing here, as the wave can be more hazardous at lower tides due to the shallow coral reef. Surfers should be cautious of the sharp reef and strong currents, especially during larger swells and near full or new moons. To reach Shipwrecks, you can board a boat from Sanur. There are several operators to choose from, including Perama, Scoot, and Rocky Fast Cruises, with prices ranging from 10 to 25 USD for the trip to Nusa Lembongan. The journey takes about 25-35 minutes to an hour. Once you arrive, you can walk up the beach from the drop-off point and choose a surf-style accommodation with an ocean view. Bali, where Shipwrecks is located, is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia, known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant surf culture. The island attracts millions of visitors each year, contributing significantly to Indonesia’s tourism industry.
