Overview
About this Spot
Mossies is a surf spot located in the Perth Area, Australia. This spot provides both left and right waves, making it accessible for surfers of all levels. The waves break over a combination of sand and rocks, and are best surfed at medium to high tide. The quality of the waves is considered normal, with a regular frequency and a length ranging from 50 to 150 meters. Mossies is known for having a friendly atmosphere with plenty of waves for everyone, and the crowd is generally composed of a few surfers. Nearby surf spots include Big Rock, Nathans Slab, Mullaz, Burns Beach Reefy, and Whitfords Beach Outer Reefs. When the swell is over 3.5 meters from the southwest direction, it’s recommended to try Pilons out the back of the port danger marker if it’s breaking. Otherwise, there are three to four different peaks to choose from. Be cautious not to get stuck on the slab in the middle when it’s big, especially at low tide. To reach Mossies, head to Ocean Reef Marina, stand in front of the clubhouse, and you’ll see the peaks in the next bay north of the marina. Alternatively, drive towards the Aquatics Club until you reach the end of the road, where there’s a car park. Jump the fence, walk to the top of the dune, and you’ll see the spot. If you don’t see it, it’s not breaking. Remember to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots and always assess your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions match your surfing level. Respect the locals.
