About this Spot
Miramar Sur is a surf spot located in Northwest, Nicaragua, near the village of Miramar. The spot features a sand bottom and works best at low tide. The surf here is a regular beach break, and the length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. The spot is generally empty, so you can often surf without crowds, but always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette, especially if the spot gets busy. Miramar Sur is suitable for all levels, but it’s important to check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The surf season runs from March to November, with the best swells coming from the southwest to south. Waves can range from chest-high to double overhead during this period. The spot provides both left and right waves. The area is known for consistent offshore winds and warm water. When other spots are blown out or too big, Miramar Sur can still offer surfable conditions, even if the waves look unorganized. You can access the spot by walking south from Padangs or finding a place to park near an abandoned home or lot, but a 4×4 vehicle is recommended for easier access. Nearby surf spots include Padangs, Miramar, Pipes, Suicides, and Puerto Sandino. The main break in the area is Punta Miramar, a left point break reef in front of the Miramar Surf Camp, but Miramar Sur itself is a beach break. Other nearby breaks like Shacks, Shifty’s, Las Flores, The Pier, Pipes, and The Breakwater offer a variety of wave types and conditions.
