Overview
About this Spot
Off The Wall is a surf spot located in Cape Town, South Africa, specifically in Mouille Point along Beach Road near the Mouille Point lighthouse. The spot sits in front of high-rise apartments and is easy to reach by car, with parking available along the beach road. Off The Wall features a rocky bottom and is known for its fast, hollow, and powerful waves that break over a reef. The spot provides both left and right waves. The rides are usually short, less than 50 meters, but can sometimes reach up to 150 meters. The best surf conditions are found with a southwest swell and an offshore southeast wind, especially during low and mid tides, with the rising tide being particularly favorable. Water temperatures range from 14°C in July to 21°C in January, so a 4/3mm wetsuit is recommended in winter and a 2mm long sleeve shorty or 3/2mm spring suit in summer. The area is less crowded compared to other Cape Town surf spots, but it is important to respect the locals and follow surf etiquette, especially when the spot gets busy. The spot is considered a regional classic and is best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers due to the challenging conditions and the presence of submerged rocks, which can be hazardous. Pollution in the water can occur occasionally, so check the latest surf report and forecast before heading out. Off The Wall is close to other surf spots like Thermopylae, Rocklands, Solly’s, Queens, and Gasworks. Always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level. For more details, use a surf map or webcam to get a real-time view of the conditions.
