The best conditions for surfing at Main Street occur when the swell is small, as it’s a sandbar break that typically breaks onshore. Bodyboarders often frequent this spot, but some experienced surfers also tackle the waves here. On good days, surfers can find long, hollow, and makeable barrels. The spot can be particularly enjoyable for bodyboarders when offshore winds are blowing, creating hollow, fast, and bowly waves with a substantial lip to hit. To find the best break, look for the optimal spot on the sandbar, which is usually located south of the parking lot. Timing is crucial when paddling out, especially on bigger days when getting past the shore break can be challenging. Morning sessions with offshore winds often provide the best conditions. To reach Main Street, drive to Guadalupe and turn right onto Main Street. Follow this road for about 3 to 5 miles, passing fields and dunes, until you reach the beach parking lot.
