About this Spot

Pancora is a surf spot located in Central, Chile, about 3 kilometers south of Pichilemu in the O’Higgins Region, on the south side of Punta de los Lobos. The spot is known for its powerful beach break with a sandy bottom and very consistent waves. Pancora provides both left and right waves. The beach is long and usually empty, with constant winds and waves. The surf here is hollow and fast, with rips and undertow, and the water moves a lot, especially when the swell is over 1.5 meters. On days with north winds, the conditions can be offshore, and the waves can be world class, but this is rare. The northern end of the beach, close to Punta de los Lobos, has a couple of rock reefs that create thick, heavy right-handers. When the outside is too big, the inside reforms and offers different surfing options. The spot works at all tides and is best suited for intermediate surfers due to the power and speed of the waves. The length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. Pancora is not crowded, even on weekends, but always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette if the spot gets busy. The area is accessible by a short walk from the nearest road, usually taking 5 to 15 minutes. Nearby surf spots include Punta de Lobos, Infernillo, La Puntilla Pichilemu, Puertecillo, and Matanzas. Before paddling out, check your skills to make sure the spot and the conditions fit your surfing level. Always check the surf forecast, surf report, and use a map or webcam to see the current conditions before heading out. Pancora is a spot where you need to be aware of the rips and the strong undertow, so stay alert in the water.
