About this Spot

The spot is positioned approximately 183 kilometers northwest of Santiago and 64 kilometers north of Viña del Mar, making it accessible for day trips from major cities. Located in the small town of Cachagua, the surf spot is found by heading south from the town center either on foot or by car. The beach extends for about 5 kilometers and features a sandy bottom that creates favorable surfing conditions. The spot provides both left and right waves that break over the sand bottom, suitable for all experience levels including beginners. Water temperatures average around 13.8°C to 15°C during summer months, requiring surfers to wear 4/3mm wetsuits along with neoprene accessories like hoods, gloves, and boots. For optimal surf conditions, the spot responds well to southwest and west swells with a minimum height of 2 feet. Wind conditions are best when coming from north, northeast, or east directions, creating offshore winds that enhance wave quality. The surf spot offers waves less than 50 meters in length with regular frequency. Crowds are typically moderate, though weekends can be busier than weekdays. Nearby surf spots include Los Pinos, Maitencillo, Papudo, Cau Cau, and El Claron. Surfers should be cautious of rip currents and rocks in the area. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. When the spot is crowded, respect the locals and check surf etiquette to ensure a positive experience for everyone in the water.
