Overview
About this Spot
Vazon Reef is a surf spot located in Channel Islands, United Kingdom. The reef features both left and right breaks that work primarily during high tide over a rocky outcrop situated in the middle of Vazon Bay. The left break begins to function on lower tides and offers a fast ledgy takeoff adjacent to a notable landmark known as ‘nipple rock.’ This is followed by a slower inside section, which may not be as desirable. Conversely, during larger spring tides, the right break also produces fast ledgy takeoffs and a more extended inside wall. Generally, Vazon Reef can provide enjoyable waves, with the potential for hollow waves when conditions are optimal. Compared to other local spots such as Perelle, Vazon Reef is less exposed to swell and wind, making it a suitable option when conditions are less favorable elsewhere. The surf spot is characterized by a laid-back atmosphere; however, it can become crowded during weekends and the summer holiday season, so it is essential to respect surf etiquette in such conditions. The reef is located directly in front of the surfers’ car park at Vazon, making it easily accessible. The wave direction at Vazon Reef is an a-frame, and the sea bottom consists of coral reef. The spot is suitable for surfers of all levels, with a wave length of less than 50 meters and a regular frequency of surfable days. Crowds are generally small, with few surfers present during off-peak times. Nearby surf spots include T’Others, Vazon Beach, Vazon Centres, Perelle Left, and Perelle Right. When planning a visit, it is advisable to assess your skill level against the difficulty of the waves before entering the water. Additionally, check the surf forecast and report for the best conditions, and consider utilizing a surf map or webcam for real-time updates. Respect the locals.
