Overview
About this Spot
Perelle Right is a surf spot located in Channel Islands, United Kingdom, off the islet of Dom Hue about 500 meters from the mainland of Guernsey. The spot breaks over a rocky bottom and is best surfed at high tide. The wave starts with a steep takeoff next to a group of rocks and runs into a fast, long wall that leads into shallower water. The length of the ride can be between 150 and 300 meters on its best days. The spot is not suitable for beginners and is recommended for experienced surfers only, as the wave can get heavy and dangerous when the swell is over 6 feet. The spot is best surfed with a shortboard or a mini-gun on bigger swells. Access to Perelle Right is by parking near the slipway south of Perelle Bay, then either walking along the causeway to Dom Hue islet at mid tide or paddling out to the break, which is about 500 meters offshore. The spot is exposed to strong winds, so the best conditions are with a light east or southeast wind and a west or northwest groundswell. The minimum swell height for good waves is around 4 feet. The spot sometimes breaks and is usually uncrowded, but it can get busier on weekends. Nearby surf spots include Perelle Left, Vazon Centres, T’Others, Vazon Reef, and Vazon Beach. Watch out for shallow rocks just below the surface, especially as the tide drops, and be careful of strong rips and undertows. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and make sure to follow surf etiquette. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level.
