About this Spot

K38 is a surf spot located in Baja North, Mexico. The spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom is characterized by a coral reef, making it important for surfers to be cautious and consider wearing booties for protection. The wave quality is considered regional classic, and it is suitable for surfers of all levels. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters. K38 works year-round and is open to any swell direction, though it prefers a south or southwest swell to line up the point. Steeper north swells tend to mush. When the swell is around seven feet and the tides are right, surfers can experience a barrel off the take-off. The main peak is the best place to catch the wave. The spot can get crowded on weekends, so it’s important to check the surf etiquette when the spot is busy. Parking is available at the dirt parking lot under the free road at the K-38 exit, but avoid parking near the trailer park due to theft risks. Nearby surf spots include Teresitas, Las Gaviotas, Calafia, Mushrooms, and Raul. Always check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
