About this Spot

The Finca is a surf spot located in Northwest, Nicaragua, in the Chinandega region, near the Bay of Fonseca. The spot is known for its sand and rock bottom and is accessible only by boat from the small town of Potosi. The Finca breaks in front of a farm on a cliff and is surrounded by other surf spots like Aserradores, Poneloya Beach, and Las Penitas. The waves at The Finca are mostly lefts, with a few rights, and the spot works on all tides. The main peaks in the area include Punta Salvia, which is a long left on the inside of Coffee Grinds, an a-frame reef, and Scott’s Peak, an a-frame that holds the most size and is located towards Punta Nata. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. The best conditions are with swells from the south, southwest, or west, and northeast winds. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and the spot is considered suitable for intermediate surfers. Hazards at The Finca include rocks and the possible presence of bull sharks, so caution is advised. The area is remote, with a long and rough road from Chinandega to Potosi, and the surf zone is often empty and wild. Always check the surf forecast, report, map, and webcam before heading out. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and make sure to follow surf etiquette. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The Finca is a mission to reach, but it offers a unique surf experience in a less crowded part of Nicaragua.
