The surf spot provides left waves. The wave at Pepinos is a left-breaking reef break with a bottom made of rocks and sand. The spot works on all tides and is considered a regional classic, with a wave length between 50 and 150 meters. Surfing here is possible for all levels, but it is important to check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The spot is known for being very consistent, with reliable surf conditions throughout the year. The best surf forecast is usually during the winter months, with optimal swell direction from the south and offshore winds from the east-northeast. The area is generally empty, with very few surfers even on good days, so crowds are not common. However, always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded. Access to Pepinos can be challenging, as you need to pass through farmland and sometimes cross small rivers by car. The road is unpaved and can become muddy, especially after rain, so a 4×4 vehicle is recommended, but not absolutely necessary.
