About this Spot

Outer Banks Beach Club is a surf spot located in North Carolina, USA Southeast. The spot provides both left and right waves. It’s situated in Avon, within the Outer Banks region, known for its beach breaks. Waves typically range from 50 to 150 meters in length, with a hollow and fast power. Best conditions occur during low to mid tides, with a northeast swell and southeast winds. Surfers should be cautious of potential hazards such as rip currents and sharks. The spot is suitable for all experience levels, from beginners to advanced surfers. Crowd levels are generally low, with few surfers in the lineup. The bottom is sandy, which can create shifting peaks. When surfing here, it’s important to respect locals and follow surf etiquette, especially if the spot gets crowded. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Access to the spot can be tricky due to limited parking. Look for the Outer Banks Beach Club buildings (round structures 3-4 stories tall) when driving down the beach road. Turn into the parking lot across from Calvin Street. The spot is known to break harder and slightly bigger than other places along the Outer Banks, with the best waves often found to the right in front of the storm drain. Dawn patrols may offer good conditions but also increase the likelihood of shark sightings. Nearby surf spots include Hatteras Light House, Frisco Pier, Rhodanthe Pier, S-Turns, and New Inlet. Remember that swimming or surfing within 300 feet of a fishing pier is prohibited, and red flags indicate dangerous conditions where swimming is not allowed. The Outer Banks region is renowned for its world-class surfing opportunities, attracting surfers of various skill levels. The unique geography of the area, particularly Hatteras Island, contributes to its reputation as a prime surfing destination on the Atlantic Coast.
