About this Spot

Leste Oeste is a surf spot located in Ceará, Brazil, in the city of Fortaleza. The spot sits next to a breakwater, close to Iracema Beach. To get there, take Castelo Branco Avenue west from Iracema, pass the Marina Hotel, and after about 1 km you will see the breakwater with Leste Oeste beach right beside it. The bottom is a mix of sand and rocks, so watch out for rocks especially when the swell is strong, as waves can push you onto them. The water is warm all year, usually around 29°C, so you won’t need a wetsuit. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. Swells from the east, north, and northeast work best, and the spot is most consistent with winds from the southwest. The best tides are medium and high. Wave size can go from waist-high to double overhead, and the length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. The spot is suitable for all levels, but always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Rips and undertow can be present, so stay alert. The crowd is usually moderate, but it can get busy on weekends. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always check the surf etiquette. Water quality can sometimes be affected by local pollution, so keep that in mind. Nearby surf spots include Iracema, Volta da Jurema, Titanzinho, Futuro, and Icarai. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check online resources before heading out.
