About this Spot
Praia Do Francês is a surf spot located in Alagoas and Sergipe, Brazil. The spot sits in the municipality of Marechal Deodoro, about thirty minutes south of Maceió. Praia Do Francês is known for its consistent surf, with rideable waves available most days. The spot features a mix of sand and rock bottom. There are three main peaks: Fortunato, which has fuller waves and is good for beginners; Leprosário, which is out back and offers steeper, faster, and more tubular waves; and Coqueiral, which is known for larger, more powerful waves. The spot provides both left and right waves. The length of the ride ranges from 50 to 150 meters. Swell directions from the south, southeast, and east work well here, and the best conditions are usually from April to June. Offshore winds from the west are ideal. Praia Do Francês is a regional classic and is suitable for all levels, but it is important to check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The area can get crowded, especially when the surf forecast and report show good conditions, so respect the locals and always follow surf etiquette when the spot is busy. Rips and undertow can be present, so pay attention to the current. The spot is accessible by car or minibus from Maceió. Nearby surf spots include Pedra Virada, Rainha, Solaris, Cruz das Almas, and Riacho Doce. The beach has hosted surf competitions, including World Surf League Qualifying Series events. You can find surf schools, restaurants, bars, and places to stay nearby. For up-to-date conditions, check a surf forecast, report, map, or webcam before heading out.
