About this Spot

Playa Las Salinas is a surf spot located in Central, Chile, between Reñaca and Viña del Mar. The beach sits along the coastal road and is easy to access from the street. There is a small hill with a Chilean flag on the south side of the beach. The spot features a sandy bottom mixed with rocks, and the waves break over these areas. The surf spot provides right waves. The best conditions for surfing are at medium to high tide, especially during rising tide. The waves are fast and powerful, and the spot is mainly for experienced surfers and bodyboarders. The length of the ride is usually between 50 and 150 meters. The area is known for rips and undertow, so be careful when entering the water. The spot is usually empty, but always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded. There are two main surf zones: the central area in front of Guazones and the western end called the balneario. The central zone is more consistent and offers both left and right breaks, while the balneario is more sheltered and can be better for beginners. Sandbanks shift due to currents, so conditions can change. The prevailing winds are from the south and southeast in the central zone, and from the south and southwest in the balneario area. The spot is close to other surf spots like Los Marineros, Reñaca, Cap Ducal, Caleta Portales, and Las Bahamas. Facilities at the beach include public restrooms, showers, and parking. There have been reports of theft, so keep an eye on your belongings. Always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check local resources before heading out.
