About this Spot

Totoralillo is a surf spot located in Central, Chile, about 18 kilometers south of Coquimbo, accessible via the Panamericana Highway with a clearly marked road leading to the beach. The spot is a small peninsula made up of rocks and sand, featuring at least three pointbreaks with rocky bottoms. Two of these are right-handers and one is a left, and sometimes a sandbar in the shorebreak creates a fourth wave. The spot provides both left and right waves. The waves break over boulders and rocks, and sea urchins are present, so wearing booties is recommended. Swells for the main right wave range from 1 to 2.5 meters, while the other right and the left pointbreak work best with swells from 2 to 3 meters. The surf is consistent and works at all tides, with the best conditions usually from March to June. In summer, the beach can get crowded and dirty, so check the surf report and forecast before heading out. The length of the ride is generally less than 50 meters. The spot is suitable for all levels, but always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always follow surf etiquette. The water is clear and unpolluted, and a 3.2 wetsuit is recommended. There are few surfers most of the year, but crowds increase in peak season. Nearby surf spots include Avenida del Mar and Punta Choro. For more details, check the surf map and webcam if available. The area also has a small fishing cove where you can get fresh seafood. Totoralillo is known for its consistent surf and natural setting, making it a straightforward spot for those looking for reliable waves in the Coquimbo region.
