Overview
About this Spot
End Wedge is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia. This spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom consists of sand and rocks, and it can be surfed at all tides. The wave quality is considered a regional classic, suitable for surfers of all levels. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and it can get quite crowded. Nearby surf spots include Fingal Bomie, Insides, Outsides, Duranbah, and Point Danger. The spot is known for its rips and undertow, and there are rocks and man-made dangers such as buoys. Sharks are sometimes present, especially when the swell gets bigger, as they come through from the Tweed River. The wave wedges up off the rocks, providing a fun ride, but it’s not the longest wave. If you’re afraid of sharks, it might be best to avoid paddling through, as it can be intimidating even if you don’t see any sharks. The spot can get really crowded, so it’s important not to drop in or snake other surfers. Locals suggest a couple of options to reach the spot: you can paddle over from Duranbah, but be cautious of sharks, or drive down into New South Wales and approach from Fingal Headland to surf on the north of Letitia Spit. Always check the surf etiquette when a spot is crowded, and make sure to check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
