Overview
About this Spot
Alexandra Headlands is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia. This spot is known for its right-hand waves and features a combination of sand and rock bottoms. The waves are best at medium and high tides, offering a normal quality surf experience suitable for all levels of surfers. The wave length is typically less than 50 meters, and the spot is generally not crowded, with only a few surfers present. Nearby surf spots include Murray’s Left, The Bluff, Dedis, Mooloolaba, and Maroochydore. The Bluff, located 150 yards to the right of ‘the corner,’ provides good rights over a rock bottom, especially during cyclonic conditions when waves can reach up to 8 feet. To the left of ‘the Alex corner,’ there are lefts on a sand bar at lower tides, and plenty of beach breaks further left up to Maroochydore. Free parking is available along the road that runs along the beach, and there is plenty of accommodation nearby. A road and walking path runs from Maroochydore through Alex to Mooloolaba. It’s important to check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded and to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
