Overview
About this Spot
Superbanks is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia, renowned for its epic waves and unique combination of point break and beach break characteristics. The wave at Superbanks starts at Snapper Rocks and travels all the way through to Kirra, offering a variety of sections that can provide thrilling rides. On a good day, surfers can pump for the tube, while on other days, the long walls offer ample opportunities for carving. The atmosphere at Superbanks is a blend of Snapper, Greenmount, and Kirra, making it a popular destination for surfers from all over. However, this popularity means that the spot is ultra crowded, so it’s important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. The wave direction at Superbanks is right, and the bottom is sandy, making it suitable for surfers of all levels. The wave length ranges from 150 to 300 meters, providing plenty of room for maneuvering. Despite the crowd, catching a good wave can be a satisfying experience. After a ride, surfers often have to walk back up the beach, which is about 2 kilometers, but the walk is made pleasant by the scenic views of the Gold Coast. To reach Superbanks, drive to Snapper Rocks along the back highway on the Gold Coast and take the Coolangatta exit. Follow the Gold Coast Highway past the airport and turn off at Kirra, then take the main street up to Greenmount or Snapper Rocks. It’s important to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
