Overview
About this Spot
Bribie Island is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia. The island is the smallest and most northerly of three major sand islands forming the coastline sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay. The surf spot is situated on the ocean side of the island, which is somewhat sheltered from prevailing winds by Moreton Island and associated sand banks, resulting in a small surf break. The spot provides both left and right waves, with a sandy bottom and is best surfed at high tide. The quality of the waves is described as sloppy, and the spot is suitable for surfers of all levels. The waves sometimes break and are less than 50 meters in length. The crowd is generally few, but there are more people during holidays. Nearby surf spots include Yellow Patch, Kings Beach Groyne, Kings Beach Break, Shelly Beach, and Moffats. To reach the surf spot, drive to Woorim on First Avenue, turn left at the end of the street, follow the road to the end, and then turn right. It’s important to check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded and to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
