Overview
About this Spot
Nielsen’s Beach is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia. This spot is situated about a 20-minute drive from Bundaberg town center. To reach Nielsen’s Beach, follow the signs to Bargara or ask a local for directions. Use the directions to Kelly’s Beach, then travel another 5-10 minutes north along the coastal road until you reach Nielsen’s Caravan Park. The beach is in front of the caravan park and a large surf club. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom consists of sand and rocks, and it works best during medium and high tides. The quality of the waves is generally considered not very good, and it is suitable for beginners. The locals are generally chilled, but it’s important to show respect, especially when there’s a good swell, as it can get crowded. There’s also a right breaking on a rocky bottom on the right side of the beach which can provide better quality waves. In summer, the beach sees a lot of beginners. Nearby surf spots include Kelly’s Beach, Bundaberg, Archies, Elliott Heads, and Moore Park Beach. Remember to check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded and always assess your skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match your surfing level. Respect the locals.
