About this Spot
The Right is a surf spot located in South West Australia, Australia. Known for its challenging conditions, The Right is a world-class wave that attracts professional surfers and thrill-seekers. This spot is characterized by its powerful right-hand waves that break over a rocky bottom, making it suitable only for experienced surfers. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and it is known to rarely break, adding to its allure. The Right is exposed to all swells, and the constant wash-throughs make it a demanding spot. Surfers must be cautious of the urchins, rips, undertow, and rocks that are prevalent in the area. Additionally, the spot is isolated and far from the nearest hospital, making it essential to have a boat or ski for access and safety. The presence of sharks is another factor to consider when surfing here. Helmets and tow boards are recommended, along with a 4/3 wetsuit due to the cold water temperatures. It is important to surf with company, as the conditions can be unpredictable. The Right is not crowded, but you may encounter other big wave surfers. Nearby spots include Twisties, Conspicuous Beach, Ocean Beach, Mandalay Beach, and Lowlands Beach. To reach The Right, turn off the South Coast Highway onto Boat Harbour Road and follow it for about 2 kilometers. Continue on the non-paved road to reach the beach. Respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level.
