About this Spot

Cordoama is a surf spot located in Algarve, Portugal. This spot features an a-frame wave direction and a bottom composition of sand and rocks. It is suitable for surfers of all experience levels, making it accessible for both beginners and advanced surfers. The wave length is less than 50 meters, and the spot experiences regular surf conditions. The best tides for surfing at Cordoama are medium and high. The surf frequency is consistent, providing ample opportunities for surfing. It is important to note that the area may experience rips and undertow, which can affect surf conditions. During the summer months, if there is a good swell, it is advisable to arrive early as the car park fills up quickly, and parking may be limited to the road. The water quality is clear, making it a pleasant location for surfing; however, the water temperature remains cold year-round, requiring a 3/2 wetsuit in summer and full winter gear, including cap, booties, and gloves, during colder months. Cordoama does not attract as many bodyboarders as other local beaches, which can lead to a less crowded experience. Currently, there are two notable banks present: an inside bank and an outer bank that works well on bigger days. After surfing, there is a café/bar on the beach for refreshments. The location can be accessed by driving to Vila do Bispo, following the signs through the town, and taking a left onto a dusty road leading to the beach. Respect the locals. It is crucial to check surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots and to assess the difficulty of the surf conditions before entering the water to ensure you have the necessary skills.
