Overview
About this Spot
Praia de Arrifana is a surf spot located in Algarve, Portugal, known for its picturesque bay surrounded by high cliffs and authentic white houses. It is one of the first surf spots in the Algarve when coming from the north, after Odeceixe and Amoreira. The spot is approximately 1.5 hours from Lisbon. The beach of Arrifana offers a beach break with fun and hollow peaks that works throughout the tide, picking up most swells and providing decent shelter from north winds. It is relatively easy below head-high, but swells can close out along the beach, making it important to find the right corners. The beach break is popular with surf schools and surfers of all levels, offering a mix of lefts and rights, especially during a pushing tide. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and the spot is known for being crowded. Surfers are advised to check their skills before paddling out to ensure the spot matches their level. The bottom is sandy, and the spot is suitable for all types of boards, including beginner and soft boards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. Arrifana is a regional classic with very consistent waves, making it a popular destination for surfers.
