It’s situated in Orange Beach and relies on man-made structures like breakwaters and jetties to create surfable conditions. Alabama Point typically requires local south-southeast windswell or a strong tropical system to produce waves. When conditions are favorable, the spot can handle waves up to six feet, making it one of the more dependable options along Alabama’s coastline. The waves break over a sandy bottom, suitable for surfers of all skill levels. Best conditions occur with southeast swells and north to north-northwest winds, working well at all stages of the tide. Access to Alabama Point is convenient, with free parking available nearby. Surfers should be aware of potential hazards such as rip currents and the presence of sharks. Water quality can be affected by silt from the Mississippi River and historical oil spills.
