Overview
About this Spot
Kolimbithres is a surf spot located in Aegean Coast (Greece) on the northern shore of Tinos Island. The spot is about 30 minutes north of Tinos town and can be reached by car, taxi, or bus. The beach has a sandy bottom and works on all tides. The spot provides both left and right waves. The waves here are generally mellow and crumbly, with lengths usually less than 50 meters, but on better days rides can be longer. The spot breaks only sometimes, mainly when the north or northeast swells hit and the wind comes from the south or southwest. The minimum swell height for surfable waves is about 3 feet. The area is exposed to the meltemi winds, especially in July and August, which can create good surf conditions. The water temperature is usually around 21°C, so a short wetsuit or summer gear is enough. The spot is suitable for all levels, with the mellow peaks being good for beginners and the larger days more suited for intermediate or advanced surfers. There is a current that pulls you out to the lineup, so be aware of rips and undertow. Always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always follow surf etiquette. The crowd is usually small but can increase on good days. There is no localism reported. On the beach, you will find a small cafeteria with drinks and snacks, a surf shop for board rentals and equipment, and a beach bar. Accommodation options include a small hotel with bay views and a free hidden camp area. The closest supermarket is far, so stock up in Tinos town. The area is also known for its granite rock formations and a monastery above the beach. Nearby surf spots include Paralia Livada, Andros, Ateni Beach, Abrami Beach, and Apollonas.
