The area north of the pier typically has more powerful waves, while the area south of lifeguard tower #7 offers softer waves. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The beach is recognized as a ‘Blue Wave’ beach for its high standards in water quality and safety. Surfers are required to use leashes on their boards. The spot is most favorable during strong southeast windswells and easterly Providence Channel swells, often associated with hurricane activity near the Bahamas.
