Overview
About this Spot
Riddell Beach is a surf spot located in North West Australia, Australia. This spot is known for its unique red waves, influenced by the red sand that washes into the water. The beach is situated off Kavite Road, and access requires a walk down an access path through the pindan cliffs. During the wet season, the dirt roads leading to the beach are often closed, so visitors may need to park at the port industrial estate on McDaniel Road and walk approximately 800 meters to reach the beach. The surf spot is characterized by both left and right waves, breaking over a sand and rock bottom. It is suitable for intermediate surfers, as the waves can reach solid 4 feet in height. However, the spot rarely breaks, offering quality surf only a few days each year. The waves are typically less than 50 meters in length, and the beach is often empty, with only a few locals taking advantage of the surf. Visitors should bring food, water, and vinegar for the walk, as it can be challenging. It’s important to respect the locals and share the waves, as the community is wave-starved in this region. Surfers are advised to check their skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match their level. Additionally, checking the surf etiquette is crucial when surfing crowded spots. Respect the locals.
