About this Spot

Slimeys is a surf spot located in the Perth Area, Australia, specifically in Cottesloe near the main beach and to the right of the pier where a reef creates the waves. The spot is easy to reach with a short walk from the main beach area. The bottom is a mix of sand and rocks, with some sharp sections and man-made hazards like buoys, so be aware of your surroundings. The spot provides both left and right waves. The wave is hollow and fast, with rides usually between 50 and 150 meters. Slimeys is considered a regional classic and is best suited for intermediate and experienced surfers, not recommended for beginners due to the reef and rocks. Boards like shortboards, mid-lengths, and retro shapes are commonly used here. The best conditions are during low tide, with the spot working well when the swell comes from the southwest, west, or northwest, and the minimum swell height is about 3 feet. The best wind direction is from the northeast, east, or southeast. The spot is very consistent, breaking around 150 days a year. There are only a few surfers in the water most of the time, so the crowd is usually light, but always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette, especially if it gets busy. Nearby surf spots include Cottesloe, The Cove, Voodoos, Isolator, and South Cott. On a good day, the take-off can be steep and you drop straight into the wave, with a chance for a barrel and a shore break section at the end. Always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and the conditions match your level.
