Overview
About this Spot
Moruya Rivermouth is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia. This spot is known for its sand bottom and provides both left and right waves, making it accessible for surfers of all levels. The waves here typically range from 50 to 150 meters in length, and the spot is frequented by a few surfers, so it is not overly crowded. The best conditions for surfing at Moruya Rivermouth are during low and medium tides, as high tide can make the waves fat and usually unsurfable. Surfers can access the spot by heading to Shelly Beach Moruya and looking northwest to see a big rock wall; the waves break on this side of it. Alternatively, surfers can go to North Heads on the other side of the river to access the spot. If the river mouth is too crowded, surfers can check the other side of the rock wall for another break called ‘the wall,’ which is just as good. The spot is known for its regular frequency and is considered a regional classic. However, surfers should be cautious of rips and undertow. It is important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots and to respect the locals. Before paddling out, check your skills to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The nearby spots include The Suck, Broulee South Beach, Pink Rocks, Broulee North, and Mckenzies. Remember to use the surf forecast, report, map, and webcam to plan your session effectively. Respect the locals.
