However, surfers should be cautious of the urchins and rocks present in the area, as well as the potential presence of sharks. Access to Rangoon Island requires a paddle of about 200 meters from nearby Mystics, or alternatively, a boat ride. The spot features a big ledgy right-hander at the back, known for its shark-filled open water, and a left on the right side of the island that can warp and resemble Shippies on a big day. There’s also a wave that goes both ways at the top right of the island. Surfers should check their skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions match their surfing level.
