Overview
About this Spot
Soldiers is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, known for its diverse surfing conditions and scenic views. The spot features both left and right waves, making it accessible to surfers of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. The beach is divided into three main areas: the point at the north end, the clubhouse near the north end, and the bay near the south end. The point is rocky and more suitable for experienced surfers, while the beach breaks further out due to the headlands, providing a more sheltered environment. The waves here are mainly spillers with workable ledges, and although they are not as sucky as some other beaches in the area, they can barrel when the tide and conditions are right. The bottom consists of sand and rocks, and the spot works on all tides. The atmosphere at Soldiers can be lively, especially during the summer when crowds and posers are more common. However, the beach remains one of the most consistent areas on the Northern, Central Coast, offering fun and safe surfing experiences. It’s important to note that localism and sharks are present, so surfers should be mindful of these factors. Parking is available at the headland carpark, where you can check the surf from your driver’s seat and see if the point is working as well as the bay. During school holidays, the beach attracts a lot of inexperienced groms, which can be frustrating for those looking to focus on their surfing. Despite this, Soldiers suits all surfcraft, including boogers, stand-ups, goatboats, and longboarders. The spot is accessible via Wilfred Barret Drive, which runs from Toukley to the Entrance. Turn off to Norah Head and Noraville, and follow the road down to the beach. When surfing at Soldiers, it’s crucial to respect the locals and check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. Additionally, always check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level.
