Overview
About this Spot
Suck Rock is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, known for its consistent waves and unique surf conditions. This spot provides both left and right waves, making it an exciting destination for surfers. The surf break is characterized by a coral reef and sand bottom, which can create challenging conditions, especially when the waves start to dredge. Surfers should be cautious of the rock that appears during these conditions. The left wave is known for its hollow barrels at the start, offering steep sections perfect for stand-up surfing, while the right wave is longer and requires precise timing for the deepest take-off. Suck Rock is perfect on its day, but it breaks quite often, so surfers should keep an eye on the surf forecast and report. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and the spot is generally empty, providing a more solitary surfing experience. However, it’s important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. The surf spot is accessible by heading north of Hawks Nest on Mungo Brush Road until reaching Mungo Brush National Park, then traveling north on the beach until reaching the headland. Look around 300 meters out for the long left that starts sucky and then forms a long wall that can go all the way to the beach. Surfers should check their skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions fit their surfing level. The nearby spots include Back Bommie, Treachery, Lighthouse Beach, and Seal Rocks Stilettos. Respect the locals.
