About this Spot
Bagasbas Beach is a surf spot located in Luzon, Philippines, in the town of Daet, Camarines Norte. The beach stretches for about five kilometers and features a sandy bottom, making it a good place for surfers of all levels. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. Swells at Bagasbas Beach usually range from 3 to 6 feet, and on some days can reach up to 8 feet. The spot works on all tides and has regular wave frequency. The length of the ride is generally less than 50 meters. The beach is mostly empty, but always respect the locals and check the surf etiquette, especially when the spot is crowded. The best time for surfing is from April to July, when the waves are consistent and clean, with a mix of groundswells and windswells. From August to December, the waves get bigger and are better for more experienced surfers. The beach is also popular for kiteboarding, especially from November to mid-March when the northeast monsoon brings steady winds. Surfing lessons are available at the Bagasbas Surfers Club, and the local surf community keeps the beach clean with regular clean-ups. To get to Bagasbas Beach, you can take a bus from Manila to Daet, then a tricycle or jeepney for the last 4 kilometers to the beach. The spot is free to access and local authorities keep it safe and clean. There are two more surf spots nearby: San Jose, which is a beach break, and Mercedes, which is a reef break, both less than an hour’s walk away. For surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check local resources before heading out. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level.
