Tonel

Tonel is a surf spot located in Algarve, Portugal, known for its consistent waves for surfers of all levels. It is located in Sagres on the southern west edge of Portugal. The spot is a beach break that provides both left and right handers. Tonel can be surfed at all tides, but lower tidal stages on the push are often better. The spot is generally crowded, with a mix of local surfers and visitors. It is a popular place for beginner and intermediate surfers, as well as local bodyboarders. The waves at Tonel are typically small on less than 3-foot days, but they can become heavy and hollow when the swell is over 4 feet. The surf spot is located near the old Fort at Sagres, with the bay directly below the fort to the west at the bottom of high, sheer cliffs.
