To reach Doonloughan, take the N59 from Galway City towards Clifden, follow the one-way traffic around the town, and head towards Ballyconneely on the R341. After approximately 9 kilometers, turn right towards the golf club and continue for about 2 kilometers before taking another right along a narrow road for an additional 2 to 3 kilometers until you arrive at the commons flats and sand dunes. Parking is available along the first track leading to the smaller of the two beaches.
