About this Spot

Flagler is a surf spot located in Atlantic Coast, Florida. The spot provides both left and right waves. Flagler Beach is situated on a sandy bottom and works best during medium and high tides. It’s considered an intermediate-level spot with regular wave frequency. The wave length typically ranges from 50 to 150 meters. Flagler is known as a regional classic in terms of wave quality. The spot usually sees few surfers in the lineup. Nearby surf spots include Painter’s Hill, Bicentennial Park, Granada, Peanuts, and Matanzas Inlet. When surfing Flagler, be aware of potential hazards such as rips, undertow, and man-made obstacles like buoys. The spot can produce good waves when conditions are sizeable, with the potential for big barrels and end sections when waves reach 5-8 feet. There are typically three main peaks: a left off the pier (often frequented by locals), a right and left point about 100 yards south of the pier, and a big right on the north side. Flagler is known for its performance waves, offering big bowls and sections suitable for aerial maneuvers. It’s important to respect the locals, especially when the spot gets crowded. Always check the surf etiquette and assess your skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match your surfing level. To reach the spot, take State Road 100 East all the way to the beach. Flagler Beach is part of the Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach metropolitan area and is named after Henry Flagler, an oil tycoon and Florida railroad developer. The city has a total area of 4.1 square miles, with about 3.7 square miles of land. Florida State Road A1A runs through Flagler Beach, providing access to the surf spot. Remember to check the surf forecast and report before your session, and look for webcams to get a real-time view of the conditions.
