About this Spot

Long Point is a surf spot located in Atlantic Coast, Florida. The spot features a sand bottom and works best during low and medium tides. It’s suitable for surfers of all experience levels and offers regular wave frequency. The waves at Long Point typically range from 50 to 150 meters in length. The spot provides both left and right waves. Long Point is known for its exposed sandbar break that offers fairly consistent surf conditions, though summer months often see flatter waves. The area is best accessed by driving through private farmland, so it’s important to be respectful and obtain permission if necessary. The waves are most favorable during a medium south swell, producing ledgy lefts that break over rocky ledges. Ideal conditions include a swell size around 3 feet, with the best swell directions being south, southeast, or southwest. Northeast winds are preferred. The surf is generally suited for intermediate surfers due to challenging take-offs and fast walls. Nearby spots include Spanish House, Sebastian Inlet, Monster Hole, Duval Street, and Spessard Holland. When driving north on A1A, 2 miles north of the inlet, you can park at the Long Point food mart on the left or at a beach access that’s somewhat hard to spot. The food mart has a shower and good snacks. The beach access parking is limited to about 9 cars, so arrive early. Be aware that the sand bar is far out and it’s deep inside, causing the waves to mush out at the end. This makes it popular among longboarders. There’s always a peak that breaks well down to the left when you’re at the boardwalk. It’s important to check the surf forecast and report before heading out. Always respect the locals and follow surf etiquette, especially when the spot is crowded. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Be aware of local wildlife, including sharks, and exercise caution while surfing. Remember to bring your own supplies as the area is relatively isolated with limited amenities nearby. Long Point offers a fun wave experience for those who know where to look and when to go.
