Overview
About this Spot
Fishery Bay is a surf spot located in South Australia, Australia. The spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom consists of sand and rocks, and the wave quality is considered normal. Fishery Bay is suitable for surfers of all levels, but it is important to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The waves sometimes break and have a length of less than 50 meters. The spot is often empty, so it is important to check the surf etiquette when a spot is crowded. Nearby surf spots include Wreck Beach, Thistle Island, Flatrock, Monument, and Greenly Beach. Historically, Fishery Bay was the site of a whaling station in the 1830s and 1840s, which was one of the first export commodities for the Colony of South Australia. The station was located on the coast of Fishery Bay, a subsidiary of the larger Sleaford Bay, on Eyre Peninsula, about 32 kilometers southwest of Port Lincoln. The site is now part of the South Australian Heritage Register. Respect the locals.
