Mokes

Mokes is a surf spot located in South Australia, Australia. This spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom is characterized by a coral reef, and it is surfable at all tides. The quality of the waves is considered normal, making it suitable for intermediate surfers. The waves are regular, with lengths ranging from 50 to 150 meters. The spot is typically uncrowded, providing a more relaxed surfing experience. Nearby surf spots include Gates, Posties, Cape Northumberland, Yip Yip, and Browns Beach. When the swell is small, around 1-2 meters, surfers can paddle out directly from the carpark for a shorter paddle. In larger seas, it is advisable to walk down the sand path opposite the lookout to paddle out, avoiding the big sets on the way out. On glassy days, the reef can be seen beneath the surface, offering a beautiful view. The reef break is great for beginners when the swell is small, but it can get very big, so caution is advised. To reach Mokes, take the road to Cape Douglass and turn left onto a bumpy sand and rocky track before reaching the town.
