Overview
About this Spot
Bawley Point is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia. Known for its world-class waves, Bawley Point offers a unique surfing experience with both left and right waves, making it suitable for intermediate and professional surfers. The spot features a coral reef bottom and can be surfed at all tides. The waves here are generally less than 50 meters in length, and the spot is known for its regular frequency. Bawley Point is particularly good in most swells except south, as the south swell can create too much current and disrupt the wave form. It is especially good during summer cyclone swells and can hold up to 8-10 feet, but beyond that, the waves tend to shut down. The inside section of the break is quite tame and can be good for beginners in smaller swells. However, surfers should be cautious of urchins, rips, undertow, and rocks in the area. Localism is also a factor to consider when surfing at Bawley Point. To reach the surf spot, head to the town of Bawley Point, take Tingara Drive to the end of the point, and then take a short dirt road on the left just before Tingara swings around to the right. Park in the dirt car park, and Bawley Point break is in front, with Guillotines to the left. Nearby surf spots include Guillotines, Gannet Point, Jucy, Nuggin, and Meroo Headland Wedge. When surfing crowded spots, it’s important to check the surf etiquette and ensure you have the skills to match the spot and conditions. Respect the locals.
